How to Make a Slip Knot

Making a slip knot
Making the slip knot is the first step for knitting before you can begin casting on. A slip knot is used instead of a regular knot so the stitch can be secured around the knitting needle but also be flexible enough to insert your knitting needle.
To make a slip knot, wrap the tail of your yarn around two of your fingers, holding your palm facing towards you. Once you've gone around the fingers once, bring up a loop at the back of your hand. This loop will be what you insert your knitting needle into.
