How to Purl English style

Purling
The Purl is the second stitch you may learn after learning the Knit stitch. The purl is the compliment to the knit stitch. Incidentally, when you turn the row around, knits on their back side are purl stitches. Performing a purl stitch may be more difficult to master than the knit stitch, because you are pulling the working yarn through the loop on the needle and away from you, rather than towards you like in a knit stitch.

English Style
English style knitting, a.k.a. "throwing" means that you wrap the working yarn with your right hand. The term "throwing" comes from the fact that you have to take your right hand off of the needle to wrap the yarn. If you naturally hold the working yarn in your right hand, you would be working English style. If you hold the yarn and wrap it with the left hand, you may be performing Continental knitting. It is important that the wraps are always in the same direction, regardless of which hand you use.
