Using The Double Stranded Long Tail Cast On Method
Make a slip knot out of both ends of your ball of yarn, treating them as a single thread. Cast on using the two long strands (ignoring the tails). When you have casted on all your stitches, cut the yarn attached to the outside of your ball of yarn. When you come back to knit the first cast on stitch, be sure to knit both strands of yarn together as one stitch. Be careful not to count it as two stitches either when counting your cast on!
