Double Pointed Needles (DPNs)

Double Pointed Needles (DPNs)
What's the point?

Knitting in the Round
Double pointed needles are necessary for knitting in the round when the number of stitches around becomes too few to fit on a regular circular needle.
When knitting with double pointed needles, always have the two needles you are working with positioned 'on top' of your work, so the other needles are out of your way.
If double pointed needles intimidate you, but you still want to knit socks or gloves, look for the very small circumference circular needles they now make just for this purpose!

Knitting I-cords
Double pointed needles are also used to create I-cords, which are in effect tiny tubes.
